Can -4 degrees really be a high?

It has been really cold here...colder than I've ever been...(the other day it was -30 with windchill!) today it got warmer and was 0 degrees! They are saying that it will get warmer tomorrow...here's to hoping that is the case...we are struggling trying to find things to do....

First we played in the toybox.... then we pulled out the couchbed to make a trampoline....(yes, we still have our Christmas cards up...we're missing our good friends)...Then I put shaving cream on the mirror....we had fun spreading it around and then to my surprise the kids had a lot of fun cleaning it up...my kids LOVE to clean windows and mirrors...Oh, and we've been staying in our pjs all day...doesn't that sound fun....I'm running out of ideas....does anybody have a good idea of fun things to do inside?

The shaving cream on the mirror is a fun idea. We have been playing lots of hide and seek, building forts out of boxes or whatever, making paper dolls and art projects... we can't wait for spring! Or at least positive temperatures!

fill a big tubberware with rice or beans and give the kids measuring cups and bowls to play with. It's kind of like a sandbox.

Man that is cold!! We are nice and warm here on Maui! So an idea for you is look up online a recipe for edible finger paint and let the kids go nuts!! Hope you are finding fun things to do.

Heather, you need the Family Fun Magazine, I LOVE IT! Since I rotate teaching Maggie's preschool, I'm always looking for stuff to do and I get a lot of great ideas from there. And there's a TON more ideas on their website familyfun.go.com.

Good luck!

I second the Family Fun Magazine. We use it too...so many cute, fun ideas for crafts, fun edible treats you can make, etc. We love it! My kids love doing the mini puzzles with like 24 pieces, the ones you can find at Target, Party City, etc. Magnets, matching games, building a fort with blankets, chairs and reading books underneath with a flashlight.

I'm sure the kids loved the shaving cream on the mirror. Anything messy seems to grab their attention. :) My kids will spend forever with their playdough/tools, but I don't know that you want to risk doing that inside.
